Hello, I have recently joined NRAS, I am 25 and have had RA for 5 years. I have tried different medications and alternative therapies. I would be interested in chatting with someone of my similar age to see how you are coping with day to day life with RA. At the moment I am trying out a eating plan i.e. wheat, diary, sugar free diet and have seen some improvement though I am still on high dose meds.
I look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to reply.

Hi to you both - I'm a bit out of your age range, but hopefully some other young sufferers will notice this again and get in touch.

Best wishes - Sylvia

I'm 37 now so I'm probably out of your group now, but I was 20 when dx!
I tried every diet going at the start
It did no good I'm afraid
Apart from I'm often in a flair after too much alcohol
Or MSG laden food

The thing I did do was aqua fit and I'm sure that helped.
The hydro pool exercises helped too.

I played musical instruments and sang and sure this helped too.

Hi there,

Sorry only now replying I have not been online for a while. It is so nice to have replies to this message. I am still getting used to using the site and I am really interested in attending meetings etc on RA to find out more. I am currently on 20mg Methotrexate injections and having failed on enbrel injections I am now receiving Rutuximab infusions, I have just had my second dose last week and due for another in a 2weeks, feeling extremely drained and washed out but i must say since i started the rtx in August I have seen a big improvement in my flare up. i am interested to know what kinds of medication others are on.

Also how are you finding working with RA, I manage to keep a full time job which some days it can be really tough.

Due to the inflammation the bones in my wrists have been extremely damaged and i can no longer bend them forward or backwards which is both painful and frustrating i regularly exercise but the physiotherapist has told me i will not get much movement back. Does anyone have any advice on how i could deal with this?

Its really nice to have people to speak to who are going through the same feelings i really appreciate your replies.

Hi Cath

Sorry to hear that you've had a rough time with the RA in your wrists. Have any of your other joints been affected by RA?

I'm 24 and have had been diagnosed for a year now. I currently take Sulfasalazine, MTX, Diclofenic, Lanzoprasole and painkillers!
I have 2 young Children, a little boy who will be 4 in May and a little girl at 16 months. I find things very hard, especially looking after my 2 monkeys!

Do you use ice packs at all for your wrists? I love ice packs, I rely on them most nights for my knees! 😊
Hydrotherapy is also really good, have you spoke to your rheumatologist to see if there's anything else they can do for you?

Take Care
Natalie 😊

Hi Cath. I'm a bit too old at 48 but just wanted to ask if you've tried wrist splints. I do sympathise with you because I'm having lots of trouble with my wrists. I find the splints help.

I don't know if you use Facebook. Some of the groups are helpful and a good way of meeting others in a similar situation. New member Sarah, aka Mushy, has posted a link to her group if you're interested.
